Are YOU Ready for Winter?
The aspen leaves are changing, which means winter and ski season are right around the corner! Whether you're a seasoned downhill skier, a backcountry enthusiast, or hitting the slopes for the first time, getting your body prepared before the first snowfall is the best way to maximize performance and prevent injuries.
Check out some of our favorite ways to prep for the slopes and catch an offer for $10 off your Ski Readiness Test!
Key Training Focus: Controlled Descent & Eccentric Strength
Skiing demands a unique combination of strength, endurance, and decelerative control. When you navigate down a mountain or absorb bumps, your quads, glutes, and calves work overtime to control your descent.
Here are the key exercises we emphasize in our pre-ski training routines:
Step-Downs: Strengthens your quads and improves stability, balance, and control during runs.
Box Jumps: Protects your hips, knees, and ankles by building shock absorption and decelerative control for landing turns or drops.
Romanian Deadlifts (RDLs): Targets the hamstrings and glutes by providing the power and support needed for long days on the mountain.
Calf Raises: Build ankle resilience and calf strength to handle the sustained pressure and rigid hold of ski boots.
